SWK - SOC Collections @ SSU's Berry Library
Social Work - Sociology
Tara K. Fitzpatrick, Student Engagement, Research & Instruction Librarian
Welcome!
This Wiki has been designed to serve as a center for collection development resources, tools, and news related to Social Work and Sociology.
At Salem State University each Research and Instruction Librarian works with their academic departments as part of the library's collection development process. Faculty know the curriculum needs of students and are encouraged to request titles that would best meet their research needs and those of their students.
Before requesting a book or film please check the library's catalog to make sure we do not own it. Each department may handle book requests differently (a faculty member may be acting as a liaison with the librarian, a list may be a group effort, etc. If you are not sure your librarian will know if you send a request directly).
Please keep in mind that book requests are governed by budget constraints; and, we are typically try to have most ordering done in the fall semester. If materials are needed for a course being offered please plan ahead, for ordering and processing takes time. Text books are not purchased.
Have fun using these tools and feel free to suggest others!
